Sarah Maisel & Craig Chee in Concert
We have a very special duo performing on our stage… ukulele masters, Sarah Maisel & Craig Chee.
They’ll be teaching two workshops, followed by a concert on Saturday, September 6th.
Sarah Maisel, hailed as the “Queen of Jazz Ukulele” by international music critics, has taken the world by storm and strum. She has performed at ukulele festivals in England and Australia and around the US. And she loves to teach ukulele as much as she loves to play.
Craig Chee of Hawai’i has studied under Jake Shimabukuro and Troy Fernandez. His lively style and impressive skill have made him a favorite among ukulele lovers. He loves to share his passion for ukulele through teaching workshops and through his albums.
Sarah and Craig will be performing together jazz classics, beautiful originals and feats of ukulele prowess that will send you off to another world.
———
“American Sarah Maisel, one of the headline acts at this year’s Cairns Ukulele Festival, is a notable exception – a ukulele whiz who demonstrates sublime touch and feel to showcase the four stringed instrument’s genre-spanning capabilities”
“A consummate and charismatic singer with an expressive voice that allows her to cover all styles of Jazz…”
-Rhythms, Australia
———
“Sarah Maisel has established herself as a solid presence on the local jazz scene following the success of her 2010 debut, Have Uke Will Travel (see March 2012 San Diego Troubadour). Her unique combination of almost astonishing skill on ukulele and expressive, charming vocals is something different, crossing genres and establishing a sound completely her own. ”
“This is more testimony to Maisel the ukulele whiz, without overdubs she makes the tenor uke sound like a hybrid somewhere between jazz guitar and piano.”
– San Diego Troubadour
