4th Annual Autographed Ukulele Charity RaffleThank you everyone for helping to raise $7000 for Paco!Aloha and mahalo, music-lovers! The Penguin and the North Carolina Ukulele Academy are once again proud to announce the 4th Annual autographed ukulele charity raffle. This year's raffle will benefit one of The Penguin’s own: Paco Strickland, host of “Flamenco Café” (airs Sundays at 8:00 a.m.). A proud member of The Penguin family since 2006, Paco is a local flamenco guitarist who is battling Multiple Myeloma, a rare blood cancer. Since his diagnosis, he has undergone intensive chemotherapy treatments with hopes of a bone marrow transplant. This year The Penguin and the North Carolina Ukulele Academy will donate 100% of the proceeds to help Paco fight cancer and tackle his mounting medical expenses.
The ukuleles are signed by: Bob Weir, Jason Mraz, Widespread Panic & The Allman Brothers Band, Tift Merritt, Michael Franti, Todd Snider, Drive By Truckers, Grace Potter and Robert Randolph & The Family Band. To win one of these highly collectable Ukuleles, purchase a raffle ticket for $10 each (buy as many as you want to increase your chances of winning). Winning tickets will be drawn on December 23rd at a “Mele Kalikimaka” (Hawaiian for “Merry Christmas”) celebration Deluxe. The first person’s name to be drawn gets first pick of the autographed ukuleles and so on until all ukuleles are chosen. Winners do not have to be present to win, but those present are sure to be stoked by the festivities. If your name is drawn twice, then you win twice. The painted and hand-signed wood ukes will be on display at Deluxe restaurant beginning Friday, November 13th and remain on display through December 23rd. Tickets are available for sale in Wilmington at Sea-Comm Media (The Penguin office, 122 Cinema Drive, 910-772-6331); Gravity Records (125 S. Kerr Avenue; 910-392-2414); and Deluxe (114 Market Street, 910-251-0333) or online at Etix.<< Previous Page |
